I'm trying to get started on Flash/AS3 development via FlashDevelop/Flex SDK, since Adobe CS4 is far out of my price range for home experimentation and self-tuition. Unfortunately pretty much everything on the web for Flash development, including most of the stuff about FlashDevelop, assumes you've come from a more traditional Flash development background. Anybody got any hints how I can start being productive with this environment? Ideally I'd like some links to online resources starting with a Hello World and moving up to actually getting stuff moving on-screen. (I've tried copy and pasting 2 Hello Worlds written for the Adobe environment and they don't build.) Failing that, cheap book recommendations would be welcome, providing they don't rely too heavily on the original Adobe environment.

I've not used FlashDevelop as I've always used the fully-priced development tools at work. I know this may not be what you want right now, but this is the MSDN-equivalent for AS3 and should be pretty helpful to you later on.

Thanks, those two links should be helpful.
