Hello, I have to make a DNS resolver ; it takes the DNS server, Query type (CNAME, NS, MX, SOA, A, PTR, ANY – these are the minimum)(Recursion/Iterative) and the Host name. I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction with a tutorial or some reference material or some simple application. where should i start? Thanks, Raxvan

Download the sources for the Linux "dig" utility. It does pretty much all kinds of DNS resolution you might ever want :-)
enum Bool { True, False, FileNotFound };

I wrote some code to do this a while ago, as a learning experience. It's in C++ with plain Winsock.

DNS.h and DNS.cpp. Feel free to do whatever you like with it.

EDIT: I should also point out that it's probably full of bugs [smile]
