Either I'm out of the loop or this has only just been announced for the 360 and PS3; Trailer. 3rd person Warhammer 40K game? DO WANT!

phantom: There was also a game "Fire Warrior" but I haven't played it.

This has gone a long way from the first time I saw this (basically a sync-kill parade). If they have improved on the camera and controls, I'll love it.

Yeah, I know of "Fire Warrior"; however it was a FPS game as a Tau warrior. (and apprently developed by the parent company of the place I work.. o.O)

I suspect running around as a Space Marine with a big thumpy hammer will be much more fun [grin]

As a side note, based on that video, I suspect it'll be using the Essence Engine 2.0 much like DoW2; certainly has the feel about it, which is no bad thing as the EE2 is pretty nice graphically speaking.

I'm looking forward to this too, playing as a space marine in a shooter is always a good thing in my opinion. Some older games in the 40K universe might have been lackluster (as Fire Warrior apparently was), but recent games like the Dawn of War games have been pretty nice so I'm feeling confident that this one will be too.

The only thing that worries me is that some time ago I read that they were going to make ammunition scarce to force players to use melee attacks some times. Close combat is one of the things that I hate most about 40K. In a universe of laser cannons of death, automatic RPG launchers and armor capable of surviving that, way, way too much stuff is close combat oriented, including way too many space marines.

I just want to shoot stuff, darn it. At least I also read that they were going to make bolters do realistic amounts of damage. No pumping 43 shots into a heretic, one hit from the bolt puts him down.
Success requires no explanation. Failure allows none.

I dabbled in to 40k when I was at school, not spending much money on it and really enjoyed it.

I've also got a the Dawn Of War boxset that I don't play as much as I'd like but really enjoyed all of them.

I also played through Fire Warrior with a friend of mine and I actually really enjoyed that.

I would love a Shooter as a Space Marine, bring it on!

Fire Warrior is terrible. I actually bought it used at a game store a year or so ago just because it's so bad.

It's Daikatana, Big Rig Truckers (or whatever it's called) bad.

The best part is the long, overly elaborate death animation that every single enemy goes through before they finally fall to the ground.
