Hi people, I am looking for fellow game programmers to work on an FPS game on windows platform(initially) similar to Half Life 2.I don't intend the game to be a full blown title but rather a platform to show your talent and making the game as innovative as possible. Additionally, the engine is not going to be proprietary but will be under a partial open-source license. One of the main aspect of this project is to give a boost to open-source game development by including quality stuff and various innovative features akin to the commercial titles nowadays. The second and the most important purpose of this project is to give a platform to programmers and artists who wish to apply for game companies out there(there is no better way to boost your resume' than by having completed a title). The time frame of this project is around 12-15 months. The game is intended to be only 3-4 levels in the beginning and emphasis would be on graphics, advanced AI and combat techniques. The engine is to be designed on a plug-in basis with a 3-D engine (OGRE) already in place. The remaining portions and the corresponding tools to be used are: Physics : NVidia PhysicsX Network : Winsock AI : Home based engine Graphics : OGRE Audio : FMOD soundsystem Input : DirectInput or SDL Scripting : Python The game is a linear sci-fi first person shooter in which the main protagonist is a cyborg with enhanced mental and reflex capabilities. The overall plot of the game takes place on a tropical island(similar to the one used in Crysis but not based on Sandbox technology i.e the island is not fully open). The plot of the game has been developed and those of you who are interested can get it from me. Although, it is highly unlikely(given the current state of man power) that the game may not become a full blown title;still the emphasis would be to show major innovations in gameplay and AI. Any suggestions and help would be welcome.
