First off let me say this is an amature project so there is no money unless the off chance our game makes money. But if you are thinking of joining us, join because you want to work on a game FOR FUN, not for the hopes of making money.
That said, our group is looking for a MFC tools programmer to build & design our Game Object Builder tool. Our game is going to be totally open to the MOD community, so we need a tool that easily allows mod creators to create game objects. Basically it will have a fancy user interface to allow the user to see his creation in 3D, and assign properties, and script the object. After the user has entered in the objects properties, and scripted any thing he wanted, the tool will compile the object into a game object, ready to be added to the game.
Our game is a 3D futuristic air combat game (multiplayer) that uses the Twilight Scripting Engine. It''s a very powerful, very expandable scripting engine I''ve been working on for some time now, and in my opinion BURIES anything out there. For graphics we are using the upstart company Chronic Reality''s graphics engine.
We''ve been working on the game for about 8 months part time, and are preparing our first demo (really just a graphics a network demo for testing the code). After that we will be integrating the scripting engine and creating game objects. So we need someone now who would like to start work on the object creation tool.
Programmer Skills Needed:
- moderate/strong MFC experience.
- Understands and LIKES object oriented programming.
- Decent design skills. (i.e. We will tell you what we need the tool to do, and you need to design how the tool will look and work, as well as design the code).
- You don''t need to be a master at anything, the most important qualification is the ability to learn anything you don''t know, and the motivation not give up. This is not something you can create in a week.
Quick Synopsis Of the tool:
- User can view the 3D object with textures (i.e. tool will integrate with the graphics engine).
- User can enter in properties in a clean interface (i.e. if the mod creator is creating a new weapon, he should be able to easily define the max damage, etc. without having to program in the scripting language.
- Convert the user''s data entries into code (The scripting engines uses the Java language, so when the user enter''s in 50 as the max damage points, you will need to convert that code to something like SetMaxDamage(50), not difficult translation stuff).
- The tool will also have a built in editor so the mod creator can view and modify the scripted code.
About Us:
We are just a group of people who love making games for fun. We have a few artists, a few programmers, and a writer currently. We are a pretty relaxed group, but we are very dedicated. The original people started 8 months ago, and have not let up yet
.
So if this sounds interesting send me an email. Please, we only want people who are self motivated, and can put in atleast 5 hours a week. We aren''t slave drivers but we would like to finish the project before we begin collecting social security.
