Hey guys hows it goin, I just joined this forum and this is my first post! I've been doing music for a few years now and am looking at getting into the game industry and this seems like a good place to start, :) I just got a few questions regarding sound design and the game industry, First off, I'd like to know is their are full time positions available for sound design at an entry level position? (I do have some knowledge of composing, recording etc.)I would be interested in working in-house where I could really expand my knowledge and maybe even find a mentor of some sort. I'm also interested in creating sound effects and recording live audio to be used for games, so when I get around to throwing a portfolio together should I bother with making various sound effects? (ex. Spell effects, laser gun sounds) Or should I just stick with composing? Oh and lastly I have a demo of a NFS Shift trailer I dubbed over with my own sounds/music and would greatly appreciate it if I could get a quick critique/
(It was all editied in cubase and all the car sounds were from various free resources.) I have not had any technical training thus far and am hoping to avoid going to an institute like Vancouver Film School and dropping $ 28 grand on a sound design program as I think I should be able to manage without it. Thoughts/recommendations of what I should do?
