The joy of being managed & immunized...

Original Post
I am sure not many people will recall that I'm not working in IT. At the beginning of this year, I was asked to support one of our partners for a inspection in African country. I was pretty impressed by how knowing English allowed me to take this chance as everyone would expect English should be well-know basically everywhere in 2010 and mine still isn't 100% perfect, anyway... I went to the public health office to get immunized against those few diseases I might get there (3) and found out that I missed one in the past. I had to go with 4 vaccinations in a day. While I'd rather keep me away from needles, I wasn't exactly happy of getting 4 times the stress in a single shot, but I was told the plane was waiting for me and after all, the chance a vaccination goes bad is basically zero. I was somewhat scared by the results. After a few hours, I started to feel quite dizzy, which I have been told to expect. A few days after I woke up and found my arm blood red, just like having some small dried bubbles. I called the medic just in case. A few days later everything was fine, although not certainly a pleasurable experience... Yesterday I went to work and I've been told that my presence is no more needed on first flight, and the second inspection is probably taking place sometime in spring. That's wonderful.
I think you should listen to Alanis Morrissette's Ironic.
Cool, so you'll be ready to go next time.
I woke up an old homeless person the other night to have some conversation. I was sort of bored I think. He answered a few questions and then he politely asked me to go away and let him sleep.
Oh! And I have a gorgeous british gal sleeping in my room at the hostel. Yeah, I moved to a hostel!

1. What did you ask him? Homeless people are sometimes very secretive about such matters as religion, political science, the singularity and information techno- why are you waking up hobos you find on the street? They could have knives.
2. She has mace.

I was sitting at this bar and saw he was sleeping at the other side of the street. At some point around the forth liter of beer I decided that I'd go and talk to him. I sat next to him, I said "hi". Offered him a sip of my beer. I told him I still had some things to learn and that I was there to see if he could tell me something I could use in life, I asked him how old he was (I think 63) and asked him why he was sleeping on the street (I really don't remember what he replied, probably an evasive). He was very nice actually, he called me "son".
He didn't look dangerous. Actually, the one who looked like having a knife was probably me (I didn't).

What's that? She smiled at me from her bed this morning when I left for work. I won't go after her because she's a guest and I don't wanna make her feel uncomfortable but I really think it's nice to have a girl around.

Or various... diseases. Or maybe she's really a spy.
Or she could be a perfectly healty and sympathetic person. One can't live a life wondering what's behind the sun all the freaking time, specially if one has nothing to lose.

I don't give a fuck about them.

Quote:It wasn't exactly free but yes, it was rather cheap. The country I live in has alot of trouble but at least a decent, almost free public health services.

Well, you can at least take solace in the fact that in some countries they would have to pay for all the free vaccine you just got.
