Team name: Mach X Games Project name: Codename is CrashX. The official name is undecided. Brief description: A new, Semi-post Apocalyptic 3D Role Playing Game built using XNA 4.0. Story Task Force ------------ Historical Documents Date: June 3rd, 2042 Time: 9:32 a.m. Location: Nevada Synopsis: 64% of the state suffers from an unexplained power-outage. All electronics and communications in the affected areas become inoperable. Approximately 48 hours after the power-outage missing persons reports are submitted to various law enforcement departments. No links between the persons are found. 72 hours after the power-outage, reports of attacks by animals and people are reported. Examinations of the animals and persons that were detained showed no traces of illegal chemicals, alcohol, or other influences that might have contributed to the attacks. The attackers maintain during questioning that they have no memory of the time period during which they committed the attacks. Over the next several days approximately 75% of the detained persons died with no attributable cause found. The other approximately 25% disappeared and were never found. A week after the power-outage, reports of clouds of a black fog-like substance are reported in several towns and outlying areas, lasting varying periods of time, from several hours to a day and a half. No immediate affects are reported, but a high percentage of persons in the affected areas are treated for various symptoms and illnesses several days afterwards. Sporadic reports of sightings of unidentified creatures are reported, but can never be confirmed. These reports become more frequent along with reports of manifestations of forms of energy similar to ball lightning. Attempts to identify and measure the manifestations are unsuccessful. In the weeks after, travel in the state and areas bordering it become almost impossible. All vehicles and aircraft attempting to enter the state and in areas around the state lose power soon after entering the affected areas. Several aircraft crashes are reported before the FAA declares the state a no-fly zone. Wide-spread rioting ensues in the larger cities as food becomes scarce. These riots extend slowly and sporadically across the country as the phenomena spreads, with approximately 92% of the country being affected eventually. Martial law is declared and Congress meets in an emergency session to find answers to the cause of the event and phenomena attributed to it. Nationwide communications are possible only rarely, transportation between cities is possible only during the daytime and then only by land as the effects of the event have made flight extremely hazardous for commercial travel. The United States becomes a virtual island nation, almost cut off from the rest of the world except in major port cities. Mexico and Canada lock down the borders to their countries in fear that the phenomenon will spread beyond the U.S. < 8 pages missing > On March 17th, 2043, the President authorizes the creation of Task Force -------- with the mandates of investigation of the origin of the phenomenon and events attributed to it and restoration of peace throughout the state of Nevada, as the unrest is never able to be fully restored in the state despite efforts of law enforcement officers. Recruiting is conducted nation-wide in all law enforcement and military organizations, and the base of operations of the Task Force is established near the abandoned Air Force Flight Test Center, Detachment 3. < unknown # of pages missing > Post Graduation Duty Assignment Name: J. I don't think this qualifies as a paid post. People get paid in revenue, after the game is done, so your title is misleading.

By the way, what happened to your last project, level grind online? You had a brilliant concept artist on that project :).

It's still very much a paid position. As the post indicated, for exceptional applicants we'll consider paying up front. But we're funding the project ourselves, so the more we can offset costs until after the release, the better.

We're not paying people in revenue. That is to say, we're not paying people a percent of profit, etc... it's a negotiated contract amount, either hourly or fixed-rate. The amount just isn't being paid until the release of the project, which isn't unusual for Indy, un-funded commercial games.

This model is used in a number of contract industries, including authoring. Though it's not exactly the same.

As for LGO, we need more than one concept artist, but I'm speaking to those artists as well.

Cheers!

Excuse me for the question, as I don't really know much about that model of contracts, but what happens if the game doesn't make any profit? Your plan is to pay the artists with the money the game is supposed to make, or you have already alloted funds for the payments that will just be carried out after the release? Good luck anyway :)

mikeman,

If we pay someone up front it will be from our own pockets. Any amount we pay in addition to that will be from the profits. As an aside, I didn't know you were an artist. ;)

Cheers!

Best of luck with the project.

But does this mean that Level-Grind Online has been permanently scrapped? If so, I could maybe adapt some of the quests I wrote for it and use them on other projects.
