I am starting creation of a java RPG, I have a few questions: 1. I want the game to be ran in a webclient, is this possible and how can I do this? 2. Can an RPG game be turned into an MORPG later if wanted to? Or would the whole structure of the code need to be changed?

Applets.

You'd be able to bring some stuff over but mostly no. Essentially the client becomes a "browser" of sorts, and the old game logic needs to be modified to be cooperative with the server(disadvantages).

Yes, it's possible. Currently for Java there are two technologies: Applets (with or without webstart) and applications using WebStart. There is also JavaFX, which doesn't look like Java but does run in the browser.

You would need to rewrite large parts of the game. If you want to make the game multiplayer, it's best that you plan for it from the start.
