Sparkle Game Company (a Minnesota company) seeks programmers for it''s project, Remember Me. Programmers applying for this job should have a deep love for console video games, especially of the Role Playing genre. Applicants should also have a working knowledge of the C programming language. Assembly experience a plus. If accepted, applicant will receive third-party development kits for the GameBoy Advance. Remember Me will be published and available November 26th, 2002. Sparkle is a volunteer run organization. Payment to all involved individuals will come when funding is received. For more information on Sparkle, please go to http://www.sparklegameco.com. Thank you for your time, -Jesse Jenson Lead Designer - Remember Me Product Development Coordinator Sparkle Game Company

C''mon guys, I can''t believe no-one is interested in GBA development?

From an experiance point of view, I can say that the GBA is easy to work with, but does still pose a challenge to access it''s more powerful side (for those who like a good challenge), it could even be perfect for someone who knows C well, but hasn''t yet tried to get to grips with DirectX/OpenGL.

I don''t usually post here backing people, but I also feel that this could give a few genuine people here a chance in the industry.

Let me post a valid question that could further put the point across:

Jesse, I assume by the release date that and the fact you are offering dev tools that this game has a publisher? If someone successfully signs up, will they be paid in accordance with the publisher payments? Or is the game signed on a large royalty deal?

Good luck!

Hi,
I''d also like to back Jesse up... he and I had a quarrel a while ago, but we''re fine now.
Jesse''s a cool guy and he seems very dedicated to getting this game done. Although I can''t really comment on the quality of his works or his skills, I know he''s a really nice and professional guy.

mlambert: I think many people have become disenchanted with this board. At first it seemed like a good place to find people, but I see very few dedicated and skilled people actually getting help. I would imagine many posts are blatantly ignored because there are so many people whose games aren''t going anywhere. Mayhaps you or someone else could think of a way to remedy this so people like Jesse can find help? ( In another thread mind you - this thread is for help for Jesse''s game. ;-) )

Jesse: I would imagine you''re using the free dev tools like GCC or ARM SDK... Is there a particular reason you don''t get the C++ enhancements, or do you just prefer C? Also, the last time I checked you didn''t have such an accurate finishing date. Why the new certainty? And have you found that artist yet? It seems like you have since you aren''t asking for one this post.

Good luck man, and give me a reason to buy the GBA ;-)

Hey Marc, Nairb, thanks for the kind words (used to be a rarity around here).

I suppose I should have warned people on how payment is given. As it is, we have no publisher, however: we have one who has come to us and asked if we''d want them to publish our game and we have connections with a very, very large publisher, so we''re not worried about that. We just need to create a good working model of the game and show it off to publishers, someone will grab.

As for payment, we''re planning on funding coming in sometime soon, in which everyone will be paid a regular salary. And as for royalties, for Remember Me, the royalties are divvied up as follows: half of the royalties are taken into the company (so we can produce further games) and the other half is divided amongst every team member evenly. So, if you get a 200,000 royalty check, the company would get 100,000, and if you had twenty guys, everyone would get a $5,000 bonus.

But believe me, Remember Me will be published and will be finished. We''ve got a very dedicated team and I have stuck it out, even in the darkest of dark times. We aren''t quitters. We''re people who know we have what it takes to make a great game and are willing to work our tails off to make our dreams come true. Thanks for listening.

Well I''m interested to hear more about your project. I looked at the web page but there didn''t seem to be much information there. I have a computer science degree and I am working on a math degree at the moment, so I have one year left of school. I have been programming in C/C++ for the past 6 years and I''ve had a semester of assembly language. I would love to do some console work, especially for an RPG game. So if you still need programmers I''d love to hear from you.

Hey there, I have both of your e-mails and will respond accordingly. I just have been very busy as of late. The design tasks have been grueling (but oddly enough, enjoyable).

I''ll try to respond tomorrow, alrighty?
