Hi everyone,
I saw the Prince of Persia movie a few days ago, and I enjoyed it a lot. I never really played the games (I tried the one that came out in 2008, but I never got into it), and the movie convinced me to try the older games (Sands of Time, Warrior Within, Two Thrones, and the Forgotten Sands). Anyway, I was wondering if you ever have to fight the Hansassins (or whatever they're called) in any of the games. They looked like good enemies that would be fun to fight. So are they in any of the games?
Also, have any of you seen the movie? How does it compare to the games? Did you enjoy it?
Thanks
Prince of Persia

Nope. The princess name is Farah and the Prince's name is never revealed.

I haven't seen the movie, game movies usually disappoint me, I am the kind of guy who expects to see the game made into a movie (as in game story, character traits and such), what we usually get is a re-imagining with lots of unwanted artistic license, so I avoid them.
That said, I found the games' story to be quite good, but the games themselves buggy, glitchy and somewhat frustrating at times, they DO capture the spirit of the 80's version though.

I was actually talking about the special assassins that are in the movie, and if you got to fight them. I had heard though, that the names were different, as you said.
OP: most game movies<<PoP<<Pop game's story. The PoP:SOT trilogy has one of my favorite stories in games in general.
I was expecting a reimagining, as the prince of persia series is relatively open to having more than one prince in different PoP universes, which was fine by me. My major disappointment was that the prince in the movie is really quite one dimensional compared to the one in the games. The game's scope also felt a lot more epic. Lastly, the dagger is used 4 times in the movie (twice when he first figures out what it does), which is total crap.

[mild spoilers]
I would have to see the movie to tell IF they are somewhat similar to the enemies in The Two Thrones which would be closer since they are the Maharajah's Vizier's minions, but in Sands of Time, Zombies would be the shortest description you can give them and in The Warrior Within it was the Empress of Time minions, the three kinds of enemies are not that different game play wise, though there is variation.

Yeah, I thought that would be the case, though when I saw the first trailer, with only visuals and no plot, I did have some hope.

Not to say it was horrible. It's probably the best video game movie I've ever seen. It's just that it could have been a lot more.
MORE IMPORTANTLY. From the previews disney looks like it's tanking out a bunch of movies that really interest me (tron/sorcerer's apprentice)
Haven't seen it. I probably will when it comes out on DVD. A friend of mine called it: Prince of Persia: Waste of Time.
/me shrugs
/me shrugs
IMHO it seems, that they can't come up with more film ideas anymore. I mean tons of remakes, game movies, remakes of old TV series (A-Team), remakes of cartoons. I wonder when will they make a "Captain Planet", or "Quake Arena" film. I think it's just sad.
Maybe it's just I'm living under a rock for quite a long time...
Anyway, why not make a film of Weaveworld for example?
