Preparing multi-language support

Hello,

I have a MCF application that requires multi-language support. And that means also Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
I know that it involves many issues, but my question is maybe on another level:

I basically want to have all language resources packed in a dll, that can then be loaded at application start. This was actually already done by my colleague for the Korean language support. The problem is:

1. I am not with the same company anymore and can't remember how it was exactly done. But basically I had to send my Korean colleague all resource files (including images, etc.) and he would manually edit them (the text only) and compile them somehow into a Korean resource dll. That worked fine (of course text space had to be adjusted sometimes, etc.). Of course, the Korean dll would only display correct characters on Korean computers (but this limitation is ok).

2. I want to be able to have a file that contains only the text that has to be translated later. Now, I have my text embedded in the RC file with lots of other code (forms, compiler instructions, etc.). How can I achieve this?

I am using VS2005 and c++ (MFC), and multi-byte character set.

Thanks for any advice

Sorry to bump this message up again.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough:

My problem is I don't know how to organize my resource file "*.rc" in order to keep language text separated from other text and compiler instructions.

Thank you

Alle the text resources should be kept in string tables. String tables have a language identifier property. You can simply copy/paste a string table in the resource view and the editor should ask for a new language id.

MFC will load the proper language from the tables.

Thank you for the information.

I am actually using the string table for all text resources that are not linked to forms/dialogs. But how do I get text from a form/dialog into the string table?
