For PlayStation?

Option 1: Obtain an unpatched PS3 that still has the OtherOS option. Install Linux on the PS3. Learn how to program for Linux. Write your game.

Option 2: Get a job as a developer at a video game company.

For both options, I recommend you learn the C++ language. That is currently the language of game development.

If you don't know C++ well, and even if you do, read these books. Read them mostly in order.

# "Accelerated C++" Andrew Koenig and Barabara Moo.
# "The C++ Standard Library" Nicolai Josuttis.
# "Effective C++" Scott Meyers
# "More Effective C++" Scott Meyers
# "Effective STL" Scott Meyers
# "Exceptional C++" Herb Sutter
# "More Exceptional C++" Herb Sutter

The first is an excellent book for learning the language. The second is a comprehensive reference book on details of the standard library, which makes up over half of the language. The remaining books cover details about the language that you ought to know, covering topics from beginner to advanced.

They cover the actual C++ language and are very clear. There are many C++ books out there that don't really teach C++, instead teaching what the author thinks is C++. Other books cover the language but are unclear. Many others cover subsets of the language that are useful but incomplete. All of these are physical books, not ebooks.

That list is missing an important book, and I'd say it should come directly after "Accelarated C++" (second book you should read after you've already spent some time writing code):

The C++ Programming Language Bjarne Stroustrup

It's an excellent book that covers the language in a concise and broad manner. It's a holistic approach to learning what you can do with the language and offers some insight into the design. It doesn't cover the standard library in as much detail as the next book on your plate, and it doesn't cover specific use cases like the "Effective" series, but it is also more advanced than a typical beginner book.

Just buy debug version of playstation and your good to go... Oh, btw, those are cheap too...

" Sony Computer Entertainment, the unit responsible for the PlayStation, reduced the price of the SDK, which SCE calls the Reference Tool, to $10,250 in North America, $8,600 in Japan, and $11,250 in Europe."

And to get that debug version or "Reference Tool" - You need to be good pal with these folks http://www.scedev.net/about.php - Just email and ask.
