java return

okay, when i use return on one of my classes i want to know how i can get the string to my other classes? like as an example, if i return the string "apples" on the class "fruit" and have my main method on another class. how can i get the value of apples to come up on it?

You call the function and store the result in a variable. If that's not what you mean by "come up on", and I suspect it's not, you're going to have to clarify your question.
