As we're approaching fall, all things spooky begin invading our televisions and movie theaters. What better time than now to list your top 5 favorite spooky/horror/psychological games?

1) Silent Hill 2
2) Condemned
3) Fear
4) Silent Hill
5) Saw

Post your favorite top 5's below. No restrictions on your lists (maybe a game is scary because it's so bad?)

Go play Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. It's the only real horror/psychological game I've played so I can't make a top 5 list.

I don't play much these days. Hence my list is not too complex:

0) Silent Hill 1 (as for the intro play and some "horrible" effects like seeing something in a painting that is then realism in the other world)
1) Silent Hill 3 (for some reason that was the most terrorizing game of the series)
2) Silent Hill 5 (Pyramid head is so chilling)
3) Prolly Silent Hill 2 or 4
4) Prolly Silent Hill 2 or 4

Note that Silent Hill 1 is mostly there for historic reasons; measured in "nowadays fun", I am sure the other ones are better. As for 3) and 4), I don't remember Silent Hill 2 enough to properly rate. Have not yet played the other ones. Fear should be worth a try, too.

Sidenote: Resident Evil 1 (of 1996 PSX fame, some of your lurkers were not even born back then, ha!) was really nice, too, but after that, the series degraded into an action maze without any kicks (I stopped after playing part 3).

1. Amnesia: The dark descent (You can't even fight back against the monster, only flee and hide)
2. Minecraft (when you're exploring a cave and a creeper pops up behind you, time to change pants)

I've played other scary games, but they're not really scary. Amnesia is the only game that I can only play for 10 or 20 minutes, then have to take a break due to intensity.

I also can't make much of a list because I don't often play such games, but:

1. Phantasmagoria (cheesy, but the atmosphere and violence surprised me)
2. Silent Hill 4 (the only one I've played, so it stuck with me)
3. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth
4. Castlevania 64 (I'm really reaching, but that bull was pretty disturbing)
5. Glorious Vore Adventure

I haven't played 5, but I read a review of it on Something Awful, and it left me fairly disturbed.

The Undying, if only because very early in the game, walking through a hallway, I looked in a mirror and suddenly saw a ghost appear behind me. That somehow spooked me more than anything ever has in a game.
You either believe that within your society more individuals are good than evil, and that by protecting the freedom of individuals within that society you will end up with a society that is as fair as possible, or you believe that within your society more individuals are evil than good, and that by limiting the freedom of individuals within that society you will end up with a society that is as fair as possible.

3) alone in the dark 3 - cowboy ghost, steampunk thingies
4) dark seed 2 - yeehaw!!
5) terror trax : trace of the vampire (fmv games, but fun in a sense)

I haven't really played many of these games, since I don't enjoy the feeling of getting scared, but watched some videos of the Fatal Frame series - seriously creepy.

I'd probably say:

1)Resident Evil (GC remake)
2)Resident Evil 2
3)Resident Evil Code Veronica (DC original)
4)Eternal Darkness
5)Resident Evil 4

I'm a bit of a Resident Evil fan, and I always hated Silent Hill (I could never get into it).

There's probably a few games that could be inserted into my list, but I can't really remember them off the top of my head.
