I've been working on http://cyberlympics.com for quite some time, so far without being able to attract many users. All coding is done in &#106avascript and it's not all that complicated. All battles can be watched online, without registration.

To code your own bot, you will be required to register.

I gave it a quick try and I don't really understand how it works or what I am supposed to do, plus the interface is all buggy and I don't seem to be able to launch the editor.

It's probably a neat idea, but you need a lot more polishing if you want anyone to use this.

That's pretty impressive and looks like fun. What's the main challenge in coding a bot? Do you need to make separate bots for single tanks and formations?

I'd change the site layout a bit if you want to attract users. I think this year's Google AI Contest site does a pretty good job of telling the user what it's about and how to get started. I'd also try to lower the game viewer loading time.. it's pretty annoying to have it load for so long.

Something like this could be really useful for a learning tool, experimentation platform, or as a contest for conferences like AIIDE.

However, the site does need a lot of work. For one thing, there is nothing on the main page that even suggests what the game is about or that you can code your own Battle Bots. You really need a detailed "About" or an "Overview" page.
thanks for those replies! I was expecting to get an email on reply, but never did, if that counts as an excuse for waiting so long to answer.

@Ilici: I am not sure myself what will be the most challenging part in coding the AI. Currently for multi-bot battles its not shooting your friends and estimating your opponents movement. But I am sure it could go as far as using the right strategies and counter-strategies. I plan on adding other types of AI challenges later on, with tasks other than blowing up your opponents.

@EHJ: I really should add some introductory text, obvious really. but not something I think of first.

@alvaro: I really need to add a tutorial... buggy interface? I'm guessing InternetExplorer, but I am aware that not everything is quite perfect yet. Best choice is currently Google Chrome. Cross-browser has been a real pain so far :( ...

I should stop adding features and get down to explaining what I am doing :)
