Team name:
No Name.
Project name:
Nothing official, though "VirtualBands" is a working name for what I've developed so far.
Brief description:
This is an idea I dreamed up about 6 years ago and started building elements of a little over a year ago. It's a combination of a game and a service for aspiring musicians - performers and composers. I'm not going to say a lot here, but it involves pitch detection and a few other music related technologies.
Target aim:
I have hopes and ideas for making money with this. There are services I'm providing that aren't offered elsewhere (and which I believe may prove to be in demand). There are also easy and obvious paths into markets that have already proven fruitful for other companies but which I can do more easily, both from a development standpoint and from the users' point of view. While the project I'm talking about here is one implementation of these technologies, the plan is to keep them separate and flexible so that they can be used in other applications.
Compensation:
I'm not paying for help. The time may come when I have to seek funding, but I'd like to avoid that situation if possible. I'm looking for a partner who is willing (like me) to gamble his/her time on the chance that we eventually make something that turns a profit we can share. On the plus side, from where I'm at now, it won't be long before I have something I can put in front of users to try.
Technology:
The client application is currently all Flash-based (a mix of Flex and Flash - AS3). I'm connecting to PHP and MySQL. If I bring someone on board though who has more experience than me with server/database development, this could easily change. I could easily see moving to .NET or Java (and communicating with them from Flash).
Talent needed:
I'm looking for an experienced developer who has an interest in music games/applications and has experience in web development (databases, money transactions, etc.). Ideally this person would also know AS3 or another object oriented language like C++, C# or Java and would be interested in diving into Flash. The project has a lot of separation between the various major pieces, and there is room for picking parts based on our talents. That said, my strength is not in web development (other than Flash), and so I'm really hoping to find someone with that background. I also want any potential partner to be excited enough about the project to share ideas for direction. I have a lot in place, but there is a lot of room for creative input.
Team structure:
It's just me right now. The application/game doesn't have much in the way of art asset requirements, and those that it needs are mostly in place, at least as far as the current vision calls for. I'm a Flash developer and musician. I'm in my mid 30's. I work in the same market space that this project addresses. I'm currently putting in between 2 and 4 hours a day on the project (more on weekends), but this may increase once I quit my day job to work on it. So yes, I am serious about this, and I do believe there is commercial potential.
Website:
I have the current version of the application posted and ready to share with any potential partners. I'm not ready yet to show it openly.
Contacts:
Please PM me with inquiries.
Previous Work by Team:
I will share the demo of the current project and previously completed related projects with potential partners.
Feedback:
NONE. Thanks for reading!
