Project name:
MechCommander OmniTech

Brief description:
MechCommander 2 (MC2) is a RTS released by Microsoft in 2001. MC2 is based in the Battletech universe (http://en.wikipedia....wiki/BattleTech), thus the game has a very strong back story and well established game play mechanics. In 2006 Microsoft released the source code of MC2 and this is where our Mod is at. MechCommander OmniTech (MCO) (http://www.moddb.com...mander-omnitech) is a project with the general aims of
1. Upgrading the graphics engine to bring MC2/MCO into the present (increasing polycounts, adding bump mapping and other effects etc)
2. Adding more content to MC2/MCO (we have already added ~90 new battlemechs as well as new buildings and tanks)
3. Improving the game play mechanics both actual game play and logistics managment (Logistics is a big part of the game play not just the shooting)

Compensation:
Satisfaction

Technology:
C++ XNA DirectX

Talent needed:
Programmers!!!!! - we currently have only one programmer who is very committed but cant do everything himself; specifically we would like people who...
1. Know DirectX and are willing to spend time implementing new effects into the MCO graphics engine
2. Know C++ and are willing to implement code changes relating to how the game works (memory management, etc)
3. Know XNA to implement changes to the mission editor included with MCO (the editor is the only XNA project)
Please only offer if you are serious about actually doing some coding, even if it is completing one single task not necessarily joining full time, we have had numerous coders "join" the team who post a few comments for a week then fall off the face of the planet

Can I ask about your plans for the "post-release revenue" you mentioned?

I thought Microsoft released this under a non commercial shared source license.

Yeah I know and it is a free mod, so there will be none... it sounded good when I posted :-)

I guess from your name that your probably not wanting to help out? Though feel free to prove me wrong :-D

if there's no revenue; there's no revenue to be shared. Misleading people is ethically wrong.

That said, this is one of those projects that would be neat but unfortunately have no place for me.

Ok...

Problem solved! please see edit!

Sorry to all who were confused before, I assumed that looking at our link and seeing that it was a free mod then seeing the previous comment about "profit sharing" people would realize that it was somewhat sarcastic, but I guess either it was not obvious, or sarcasm is just not as common in other parts of the world as it is here in New Zealand

Also @nfires88 - thanks for saying that our project is neat, its nice to have some encouragement, we are hoping that the word will get out about the project beyond just battletech fans
