Original Post
Hi all, My name is David, I'm 20 and I'm from England.
I couldn't find any introduction board on this forum to pop my head in and say Hi, so I thought I would combine 2 of my posts and make this it.
I am a BSc(hons) Computer Animation, Visualisation & Modelling student, running games design and programming modules alongside my core animation modules. I am currently in my third of four years, which is my placement year, and I am on placement with General Electric working business intelligence for them. I am, at the moment, working on proposals for my final year project (Which I may come to here for help with too to cement some Ideas).
Anyway, I am a programmer by nature and I know VB, C++ & Allegro, C# XNA and Java. I find that when you know one language, it is very easy to pick up another, as, more often than not i have found, it is just an issue of changing syntax and the principles stay the same. I went into the more creative degree to round myself off as a professional for the games industry. As far as animation goes, i have experience in 3DS Max, Maya and a little flash.
I will be looking to get involved with some projects on this site to build my portfolio and also have a bit of fun with it. I cannot commit to strict time frames at the moment because of the pressure of trying to pass my degree with a first, but if there are any laid back, no pressure projects underway, feel free to hit me up.
Now, about the guidance part of this post. I would love if you guys could help me with where to start on these boards. I'm no beginner, but I'm not exactly an expert (yet).
Thanks Guys
David
