I am currently trying to hook a game, so I can make a Fraps program.
So far I know that I need the Device Pointer, but what do I do after I find the device pointer?

How can I mess with the VTable once I have it?

The method's I've seen don't involve v-table hacking. Do a search for "DirectX hook" -- it should even bring up some results on these forums.

You'd probably do well using MSDetours to do vtable hooks (doesn't work for x64 though), the vtable index you hook is the function number in the class definition starting from zero. you'll however need to hook all the device creation so you can catch everything. HadesMem also has a DX hooking API you might find useful/easy to use.

there are also some examples on this site using other libs: http://www.gamedev.net/topic/359794-c-direct3d-hooking-sample/
