Don't make tutorials. That's my opinion.

In all honesty szecs, I disagree. Tutorials can be good. Most are not, or at least not as good as they could be, that is true, but there are a few stars in the sky if you will. I for one would love to see YOU make a tutorial, or at least an update to your Tank demo. It's been a great inspiration to me.

That's very kind of you but me writing a tutorial would be a catastrophe. Tutorials are not "not good", they are in most of the times harmful/misleading etc. My tutorial would be the end of mankind I think....

Tutorials per se aren't harmful nor misleading; tutorials made by not-so-experts are what you refer as harmful.

It is impossible, at least for me, to learn all from scratch. The knowledge must come from some source, be it tutorials, articles, papers, books, lectures, et c. And someone has to write all this for others to learn from. It is best if everything is written by field experts.

I don't know wildbunny's level of expertise in the field of physics and collision, so I can't say whether his articles would be useful or not, but if they are well written, which is clearly possible to do, and peer-reviewed to some extend then I see no reason for him not to do them.

Now, when some dude posts whatever he thinks he knows on his webpage (like I do...) and claims to be "useful" as tutorials, I agree with you that this is harmful and misleading. Nevertheless, it is fun to do :-)

I think "Don't Write Tutorials" is required reading.

I think reading Paul's already written tutorials on the blog is required reading before posting a link to that
"You insulted me!" I did not say that in the private message Tom Sloper!

Vector fields and screw theory would be fairly interesting topics.

I can write something about fluid dynamics simulation which features vector fields, but i don't know a whole lot about screw theory

But yes, take a look at my blog if you want some idea about the things i've written before, or my writing style...

I have to say, though, I think the world of programming would be a very much more unhappy place without tutorials

Cheers, Paul.
