Dx9 exceptions

Hi all

I've moved my project (c++/Dx9) across to my new laptop and I'm having a few strange issues with DirectX. My project builds ok and runs but I'm having some exceptions with shader effects.

Essentially when I call End on an effect after rendering, I get the access violation "0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000". Nothing looks like it's a null pointer and from what I can see all values look the same as my desktop version.

I appreciate I haven't given much info to go on, but I think it's something to do with End()ing an effect. The exception occurs after the ->End() method call and if I continue running, another exception occurs after DrawSubset on my mesh (directx Mesh).

On my desktop I have the November 2008 version of DirectX 9.0c. At first I installed the June 2010 version of DirectX on my laptop and then when things didn't work I thought I'd install the same Nov2008 version on my laptop - when installing I get an error which says 'd3d9d.dll' is in use but I ignored it and carried on. In the June 2010 version my access violation was slightly different 'long at memory location exception'.

Can anyone suggest anything? I've been pulling my hair out for 2 days on this. I've tried turning the debug version of Dx on and I don't get any interesting log output but it does except on when I set the technique of my shader - again, nothing is null.

Thanks

So it turns out 'ANISOTROPIC' is an unsupported MIP filter on my video card (GTX560m).....?! Working now.
