I realize I''m new around here, and that I posted this message before already, but we''re in pretty desparate need of programmers over here in my development team. I didn''t realize there was a special forum just for these requests... I should have looked harder, eh? Here''s the story... A couple weeks ago I was looking through Home of the Undedogs, and I found an interesting little document called the Scratchware Manifesto. In case you''re interested in reading this document, it is located at; http://www.theunderdogs.org/scratch.php This inspired me to finally realize a dream I''ve had for two years. Since late 1999, I''ve been wanting to get together a small group of people to build a little game somewhat along the lines of I-War underwater. If you ever played Sub Culture, I was thinking about something along those lines. Basically, a freelance style game underwater, but with a tight plot. I''ve been in contact with Criterion (the developer of SC), and they have given me several opportunities to use for the game''s engine. At this point in time, we''re desparately in need of programmers, so I''d like to get a couple programmers together to help out with the game. I wouldn''t ask for a lot of time, and if worse comes to worse, I''d just ask everyone to help me get the game to where everything programming-wise was created, and I could do the mission design alone. Since I''m a 3D artist by profession (or profession-in-training if you want to get technical about it), I wouldn''t necessarily need modelers or texturers, but I am in a pretty tight place. Also we''ve gotten a hold of the Nebula engine, and I have our only program trying to figure out how to use it. Anyway, if you''re interested, I will be more than willing to talk to you, and maybe finally get this part of the project rolling a little better than it has been. Here''s a quick breakdown of where we are right now: ---------------------------- Title: subAQUA Devteam: AM Designs-- Me (Director, Art, etc), Two other artists (One 3D one 2D), One programmer, and my executive officer dude. Basic Idea: Sub Culture meets Independence War and Descent underwater, with added freelancing elements. Engine: Nebula, using elements of the RenderWare Platform... unfortunately, we''ve not been able to get Nebula compiling, so we''re also on the trail for a decent engine to use. Language: C++ Platform: Win9x, ME URL: (For our forum) http://www.realmofconfusion.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/forums.cgi?forum=5 Details: subAQUA was born of the concept of a Sub Culture 2. Since Criterion is hesitant to release anything on their game, we are going to have to develop and flesh out our own universe. You will be able to fly several different ships, trade hundreds of items, and fly around a fully-realized area of the ocean more than 2x the size of Sub Culture''s map. Plot Specific: I''m working on the plot right now, and getting really close to releasing an actual rough idea for us to flesh out and build on. ---------------------------- If you''ve got any questions, please don''t be afraid to ask. If this game takes us two years to make, totally working in our spare seconds, it takes us two years... I''m not worried about time. I''m serious about this though, and I would like to see this go somewhere, even if it takes us a while. Max "Astral" Rubenacker majiir@ukonline.co.uk
