Would it be possible for a first-person shooter game to randomize half-life like levels (much like in Diablo)? I noticed that when I made levels for Half-Life, you could group brushes. If there were a new brush type, (or something of the sort) could there be a way to make different sections of level and have it somehow randomize which section connects to which by making two of the brushes'' locations the same?

Yes its possible. Ive seen it done before - however there are a few flaws:

1) These levels are very boring, in Diablo it doesn''t make much of a difference, but in Full Blown 3D it really does make a difference.

2) It takes a long time to generate\compile\run.

3) Textures wouldn''t align well in many circumstances unless you used very simplistic levels and textures.

Don''t forget Daggerfall had random 3D dungeons.
AO has random 2D dungeons.

All you have to do is make a bunch of rooms
(puzzle pieces) with simalar entrances and doors,
and line them up. Or just use portals to connect
your rooms.

But unless you make a wide variety of room/pieces,
it will indeed get boring like the dungeons in
Daggerfall and AO.
