I agree... Rap is the most primative form of entertainment or art (can you even call it art?) that I know of. Rap sucks. I concur.

I want to clarify one thing, Rap does *not* suck. You however *do* suck. Just listen to NWA''s "Express yourself", E40''s "Things will never change", or The Click''s "Oldschool". Great music. Some rap sucks, just like most rockabilly.

I agree. Rap irritates me. Lately, rap has been getting worse and worse and the artistic tallent needed to get promoted gets less and less every time...

How about listening to some Jurassic 5, or some Common, or some Public Enemy, or The Roots, or Tupac Shakur (...well okay, you''ll have to ignore most of the parts where he calls Notorious B.I.G a fat pig). But a lot of good rap is about the lyrics. A lot of the aforementioned MC''s and groups have a definite message that they are trying to relay.

What I also find is that the typical suburban youth that grew up listening to Metallica, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, etc, etc ... (The music that was rock in the 80''s and transformed to grunge in the 90''s) have trouble relating to the message that some of the aforementioned rappers are trying to convey.

I encourage you to try and step into their shoes and listen to "Fight the Power" from their viewpoint. I think you just may be enlightened.

I think most people do not realize that most commercial rap is like commercial pop. It sucks ass. It''s made to sell records and that''s the bottom line.

The "rap" that you here on MTV (or MuchMusic) is usually garbage.

The thinking is:
People like Britney Spears, let''s play it!
People like Puff Daddy, let''s play it!

Jurassic 5 is a partial exception to the rap crap (notice how that ryhmes better than most the words in Jay Z''s songs? )

When I listened to rap.. DMX and Nas were the only "real" rappers. Nowadays.. all you have are millionaires ( who have been millionairres thier whole life ) talking about how life in in New York, when they have never even lived there.

You could call rap a bad form of poetry, but, most of the rap nowadays is garbage.

Note that half his songs put down homosexuality... yet he''ll admit through music( a bit sarcastically of course ) that we thinks of "playing" with Dr.Dre''s.....

D12 is just a bunch of bulshit. They don''t even know what life is.. yet they are fake enough to sing about it.

Look at that Lil'' Romeo and Lil'' Bowow junk. Neither of them even know what they are talking about ( what are they, 12? 13? ) yet sing about it anyway. It makes me wish I was 12, and had a bad voice and a uncle who was a rapper.... I wouldn''t even need to work for a living.

Why don''t you try listening to some music that not only doesn''t all sound the same... but makes sense.

Whats really funny is that there are some rappers who really do give a shit about thier family, yet have to call thier wife a whore/bitch/slut just to please the public. Thats sad.

Rap sucks , heavy metal sucks , country , POP, gospel ...................................... they all suck. Music sucks .All I need is loud deafening silence.

The word nigga is historically a deregatory name tied in with oppression , slavery. One of the "triumphs" of the "Black Man" was to accept this name and turn it it to something the "White Man" cant use.

When "We" use the word nigga , its a unifiying term meaning "people I share a common social , economical , and political background". Thats why nobody fusses when Eminem says nigga , but when Jay lo said it , well , lets just say people were not happy , even though Ja Rule wrote her lyrics.

however, as this is a bitching thread, i shall bitch about how much i hate people that say they like rap when you say ''who do you like'' and they reply ''eminem, dre, d12'' firstly IMO eminem blows. secondly, they would have never knew dre existed if he and emenim and him wernt accoiated(sp? i dont care). this makes me very angry for some reason. as does seeing little kids walking down the street with red baseball caps, so they to, can look like fred durst.

im also gonna bitch about the ass in my tutor at college that annoys me greatly. he makes me say "if i had a gun with 1 bullet" numerous times throughout the day, however 2 or 3 bullets might be more fun. *good by right knee, goodbye left knee * i really hate that kid.

also, metal happens to me my choice of music (the mentioned person above reminds me ever so much of ''slayer - exile'')

Rap does sucks, however Grunge was the one that killed good music, when wannabe''s started to get famous, and nobody thought you should have musical background anymore, just make noise, what happened to good old guitar solos? Metallica is nothing but a joke nowadays, of course great bands always ruled, and always will (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin)

Sorry, the sentiment sounds logical. But we try to keep these forums free of flame wars. It only takes a spark to start a fire.

We wouldn''t want ill feelings to carry over into other threads and topics. So you''ll have to just stick to general conversation not necessarily related to game development, but not with the express purpose of starting flame wars.
