User defined HRESULTs?

I have been unable to obtain from the MSDN whether there is provision for user-defined HRESULTs. Is there a user-available range of facility codes perhaps? Or should one just use a separate system for one''s own return codes? Thanks NICK

From Professional ATL COM Programming ...

"If you decide to use a custom code, you''re free to use any value from 0x0000 to 0xffff for the status part of the HRESULT. However, Microsoft has already defined FACILITY_ITF code in the range 0x0000 to 0x01ff, so it is best to avoid these. Whatever you define though, remember the code is only unique for the current interface."
