Help!! Problem with WinPro2000

I got a problem with my system it no longer recognizes the CD-rom drive. My friend also had this problem with his computer at work, but he couldn't remember what the patch was called to fix this problem since he didn't actually fix it himself. Oh I forgot to mention this is known problem and it happens when you have a removable drive media and try to uninstall it. It for some reason only happens in windows 2000 Professional.
