Could be those evil timebomb popup ads... they have a delayed popup. Or pr0n-style popups that trigger on you leaving a page. Or you might have adware/spyware on your computer.

I win! Yeah! Am I good, or what? I think I should spread my great fortune with everyone! Click here to also be the winner of the day!

As if.

The funny part is that the number of remaining crusis goes down, but if you reload it, it starts over. There should be a law against these things.

Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other

Yea, I''m getting that crap too.
Man is it annoying.

Also, I''m getting something, I could''nt identify making itself active in the task bar. It does not have a window associated with it. It''s running, almost in background. What it does however is activate other windowed popups. I really, really hate this. I''m determined to do something about it.

I''ll have to see if there is a way to filter these things out. I wonder if any the the content/security stuff in IE could do this for me. Is there any way of filtering out certain URL''s. If there is a way, I guess you could dump most of the advertising on the web. With that in mind, I bet it is very hard to do. You would almost have to pass the URL''s through a third party for filtering.

somebody already has, i (when i used VB lots) while looking for info, stumbled across a program and source (VB) called "Banner Hack" you run it and drag and drop banners into it, it then stores them and while the programs running prevents them from popping up, i have it somewhere on a backup cd...

Just get a personal firewll proggy. I run Sygate, and nothing talks to and from my computer without my permission, that will at least do away with advertising bots on your computer. get a pop up killer for the other side of things.

I have been away for a while, so sorry this reply is late.

But anyway

First of all the hidden non-window banner thing:

It is an explorer window in the bottom right corner, beyond the edge of the screen. To find this, activate the window, and alt-space for the system menu. Then select Move and move with your mouse or keyboard.

My problem:

Some evil Java thing. I am not sure how it did it, but it managed to activate itself. My virus scanner layed the smack down, so all is ok.

heh, I know some people who do/would bloody same people who insist on fowarding stuff. The funniest one I have seen yet is one that will make your MSN Messenger background full of pritty colours, if you foward it to people, the more people, the nicer the colours. And if you don''t foward it, MSN will stop working. WTF!?
