You know, I just took a moment to pause and browse through the screenshot library on GameSpot for Flight Simulator 2002 and I've walked away with butterflies in my stomach. I mean, I've seen screenshots from during development but the latest in-game screens they have are just simple amazing and jaw-dropping. I love to fly and take simming seriously, but I sure as hell wouldn't mind just flying around randomly and enjoying the beautiful scenery. How awesome is a game where you can do that?? Im a huge fan of Flight Sim myself, and I just got fs2k2. I have to admit it is absolutely amazing! Microsoft has really produced a great game here, all the elements work really well together to produce a great sim.

The autogen scenery looks poor at first but when u get used to it its really nice. The ATC system is really cool, finally the sky contains other planes, all of which communicate with ATC. I took off from Heathrow with ATC set to Full, doing a VFR in the new cessna caravan, and ATC went totally mental, issuing commands every second such as "N5006 traffic at your 12oclock 5 miles 2,000ft, Cessna Caravan, report traffic in sight". I think i was giving the giving the controller a lot of greaf as i flew aimlessly over london.

I was really surprised at how well it runs too. I installed it on my laptop, which could run FS2k on full graphics, just. It handled 2k2 with full graphics no priblems in open areas, but if you fly over new york or somewhere like that framerates dropped to about 10, which was just bearable. there is a nice feature that will adjust display settings to keep to a specified frame rate. With this set it will run at full detail in low detailed areas, then when you approach major cities it will drop the graphics down a bit to make sur eit is nice and smooth.

I was really amazed by this game, and would strongly recommend it..

I thought that microsoft didn''t make their own games, just plastered their name on someone else''s work. Could be wrong...

partly true, flight simulator was originally made by another company, but microsoft bought out the company years ago, aquiring he right to the flightsim series. It is now made in house by microsoft.

Still, I prefer to fly myself, even if only a paraglider, than any simulation, however nicely done it is. Feeling the wind in your ears and watching the scenery a few hundreds meters below has something that no simulation can render.

Although it''s quite cool to fly a Boeing, or my favourite, a Hercules C130 *drool* ... I dont think they would let you do that if you took pilot lessons. The biggest I saw was a Robin :-P
