I run Windows XP Pro at home, legal I work for CompUSA and got it free w00t, and I am not too hot on it. I''ll be sitting there doing nothing and all the sudden Winamp will studder and the system will lock up. Very annoying. I lost a lot of source code to that little freeze.
Plus, I don''t know if this has happened to anyone else, but I can''t seem to get ACDSee to set the file associations correctly. That MS Image Previewer piece of shit program launches no matter what. So, I have to go into the file type tab and change EVERY SINGLE image file type to load with ACDSee.
wtf?

"Oh now wait a minute. Look I''ll show ya. I''ll enter the same calculations using what we like to call ''The Right Way''."

Erm wrong topic maybe Remnex ?
Anyways, I''ve got:
C++ How to Program, third edition
..Which I like a lot, very good book.
And:
Computer Science, an overview, sixth edition.
..a school book that I do not like espesially, kinda stupid and confusing at some points.
thats all.

while(consciousness){ while(beer){ drinkBeer(); if(sick){ vomit(); } } while(money){ buyBeer(); } if(consciousness && !money) { if((bool)(rand() % 2)){ stealBeer(); } else { stealMoney(); } } }

Actually I regeted buying some of books I did buy because I
don't really read them. I think maybe it was because the level
of jargon in them was beyond my comprehension level.
For example: Code Complete I'm sure its a good book for the more
advance programmers, but I didn't really understand any of it
all that well maybe because I thought it was kinda boring or
something.

Well, let''s see... I have lots of outdated books back at home (things based on Borland 3.1 and Dos programming...just no BGI or any other graphics stuff)
But here, I have
Pure java 2
{
Perl, CGI, and java-script complete
HTML complete
} (i know, they don''t really count)
VB 6 Programmers Reference
MFC Programming in VC++ 6
OOP in C++
C++ Primer Plus
Of course, they''re basically for reference... I have a number of game programming books on my amazon.com wishlist, but I haven''t gotten around to ordering any of them.
What can I say... I''m a cheap, poor college student... of the 5 non-web-based books, one I got at a library book sale for $0.25 and the other 4 I got on sale for $6.95 a piece.

Geez. I thought I had alot of books to read, but I can see I'm
not the only one that buys useless programming books.
Thanks Myoptic you must be a genius by now.
I'll have to run through your list a couple to get a full
exposure of books to consider getting.
Oh thanks a million too guys:

Yeah, you''re right. I haven''t actually finished that book, I''ve only read parts of it.
