Would anyone be interested in any articles on cryptography? Things such as encrypting/decrypting data or creating digital signatures and things like that. Or how about something about the correct way to implement different algorithms correctly to keep your data secure? I''m just thinking about how I can contribute here, and if this is something people would be interested in, I can start working on a series. Let me know of any specifics you might like to see also.

next semester i''ll be taking my first cryptography class, so i know i wouldn''t mind getting a head start from someone that knows what they''re doing.

count me in!

Well, I''m not exactly an expert, but I guess I know what I''m doing to a certain degree. I''m currently writing anti-cheat software using several different methods of encryption, and I''m learning as I go. I haven''t found many beginner tutorials on this kind of thing, so I thought I''d give it a shot. I''m familiar with the general theory behind most methods of encryption, so reading a technical document on a certain algorithm isn''t such a hard task, but I bet there''s enough people out there who don''t really know the basics of cryptography and maybe I could help them out.

It probably won''t be done before next semester starts though, and even if it was, it''d probably be in the article queue until then.

It sounds interesting.

It will probably be a few more months before I can take this tutorial (I''m still not that great with programming) but I am sure I will look into it when need be.

I am interested in something you can attach to a file or folder that would show a promt for a password before the file or folder can be opened. I have sisters that like to snoop around in my stuff.

Mark - Get PGP (whatever the hell they have it packaged with.. ) and use PGP disk. When I worked there (nai) I kept all my email pst folders in the "encrypted" disk which is just a file. When you want to access it you mount it ( ala unix ufs or e2fs..etc ) and it looks like a regular disk on the system. Fast as hell to - I could never really notice any slow down.

The cool thing is when it came time to leave - burn the encrypted disk to a CD, delete them off the machine and voila - all my stuff is off the machine.

I''d like to see this article. It''d give me some idea what it would require to encrypt the hi-score lists of my games!
