Ok, I''m getting fed up with the crappy proxy that I have. Actually, it''s not that crappy, but I would like to at least be able to use IRC from my computer... Anyway, does anyone know of either some good internet sharing software that''ll work as a server on windows and that I can access on linux? Or, do you know of any sites that would tell me how to set up such a system? I''ve been looking on Google, and so far haven''t found that much help, so you guys get to help now rm -rf /bin/laden

If you have Win2k on the system with the modem, just go to the internet connection's properties, then the sharing tab and check the box that's there. Linux seemed to work fine with it . The only real issue that I know of s with IP address conflicts (the system that's the "gateway" becomes the first ip address, like "192.168.0.1 ", which can be bad if something else already has that). If the IP's are already automatically assigned there should be no problems, however.

Windows 98 is a bit tougher, but if you have second edition it's possible -- but I can't really help you with that .

Yeah, unfortunately 98SE is what I have. I knew that that was theoretically possible, but I was hoping someone would have a link to info on it

Oh well, thanks for trying
