How do you think the gaming mass will react to the release of a gaming engine that floats its players abilities (broadly stated) using the mathematics of an Evolutionary Hypercycle? JL www.bionicbros.de

i''ll tell you as soon as you explain what an evolutionary hypercycle is

Certain combinations of catalytic and autocatalytic interactions can spontaneously produce self-replicating, oscillating actions, that continually flip between two (or more) states.

I am sure this didnt help - basically Hypercyclic Evolution is what keeps life evolving on this planet. It is that spontaneous explosion that causes a snowball to become an avalanche and a giant to fall to dust.

ah... well then...
hmm, sounds interesting (to me)... but when i think of the "gaming mass" i picture thousands upon thousands of 12-year-olds deathmatching on the latest first-person-shooter...
how''s it coming along?

Explain more as to how you would implement it though. Would players have any control at all on skills etc. where there actions be the deciding factor on what skills evolve faster.

The game begins with a lot of 150 know species. Each player has a collection of beings from each species. Their play regulates not only the skills, powers, of the being but also how it LOOKS and moves! It is broken down into domains of organisms, organs (for more developed beings), cells, molecules and atoms. The former of which are not based on C, H, N, O rather metallics ie Mercury.

Or would it just be random evolution? If it was random wouldn''t it be chaos?

Dice are random yet when studied over clusters they are not. Hope this breif answer hits it on the head.

Masses are ugly and our team has little ego..

It sounds like simple mutation. A random change based on probability. It allows the answer to make jumps in the search space.

hmm... SimGod:Luck of the Die
Ad spokesman:"The game where you and your friends can roll for a chance to win an extra liver or perhaps a gall-bladder. Bad luck with a roll? There goes that favored rib!"

A bit of a complex idea. If you implement, I would be willing to use it in my next game
