when do you feel that we will be using everthing in "blackboxes" instead of actually doing the coding ourselves? or do you feel this is simply paranoia and will never come to be? there are software patents/copyrights on code that shouldn''t have a patent/copyright on it (ie. xor''ing a mouse cursor on the screen, yep, theres a patent on that). what do you think the line should be when entities desire to have ownership to their source code? some argue that copyrights have gone too far http://lpf.ai.mit.edu but would you want somebody copying your code and using it for their own profit? personally im all for standards to aid the programmer to have full use of things such as hardware accelleration and such, but im against black boxes for reasons such that people assume their "blackbox" is as fast as it could ever go, they are not smart enough to improve it themselves, the people who wrote it know what they are doing and theres no room for optimization, etc. whatcha think? - jeremiah http://fakemind.com

Always after more money, at any cost...

Anyway, I''ve decided to patent the method of using keys on the keyboard to make characters appear on the screen. Also, I''ll be patenting the technique of ''using the mouse''.

Software patents are useless. Mp3 should be a standard format and xoring mouse cursors should be standard. I''m all for closed source because I don''t like communism and I think someone can figure out a similar way of doing things anyway. If someone can figure it out, they should be entitled to using their code. Someone used the example that if you found the secret ingrident for coke, you could easily clone coke and get away with it.

THe xoring thing makes me sick.

What really annoys me is how some encryption licenses make you put a notice you''re using it on your software. Why the hell would we want to tell people what encryption we used? It puts hax0rs one step ahead.

Gaah!
