ok, umm i know this seems stupid, but windows does not actually have a guide to windows programming. Microsoft only wants you to buy microsoft products, so WHY would they possibly tell you how to program?? i found some insertes of ONE of there $150.00 books, but umm i dont have that kinda cash to WASTE on another windows production.

That other site really helped tho, thanks!

Er...Maybe if only MS knew how to make windows apps, there wouldn''t be very many...I think that Windows'' popularity would dramatically fall. Try and find the latest MSDN library CDs. They have all u will ever want to know and more.

I finally got it all together...
...and then forgot where I put it.

Name an OS that has a "guide" to programming it. I dare you...

As usual, I''ll withhold my comments on exactly how stupid this is until I''ve addressed more critical issues.

You use OpenGL. Very good. However, you''ve probably been influenced by people who use OpenGl because they hate Microsoft. Note that not everyone who uses GL hates Microsoft, but there are many who do. That''s fine; it''s a personal preference. What is unacceptable is to spew forth utter garbage like the above. Microsoft''s bread and butter for a long time has been operating systems, not applications. They are only recently diversifying into software markets other than MSOffice-style apps, and now the XBox. This is all verifiable fact; look it up.

The fact that you can''t find something doesn''t mean it''s not there. It may be hidden in obscurity, or you may just be too lazy, dumb or clueless to find it. My point? MSDN Online is the single largest repository of developer information for Windows - and that''s just counting the free portions. There''s even more that is only available to registered subscribers.

In conclusion, research your facts before you commit another public brainfart.

This has been a public service announcement. We now return you to your regular crock of shit...

You could do like I did - forget all about books. Read source code and write as you learn. If you have and IDE that has an integrated help system, it becomes quite easy (if you can move over a keyword and press F1 for help on it). For that you''ll naturally require the Win32 help file and possibly a few others which can, with good luck, be found on the net. Besides, most books are narrow-minded and teach you only what the author thinks is best. Scouring source code on your own is actually much more productive. That is, of course, if you''re already familiar with the basic concepts. For more and less complex examples you could try out:

I actually have NOTHIGN against microsoft, and i would like to say i used to love them. now that i program they are alittle worse then i thought, BUT i did not get into openGl because sombody told me either. I learned beacause i was looking @ this persons source code, and finally i found the site her was learning this off of, and it just happened to be http://nehe.gamedev.net

I was happy to learn it, and it makes my programming so much more fun. I do not want to actually GIVE them money so i can read there shit when i can get it for free. Alot of there libraries and articals like excpect you to konw alot of shit, At least as far as i could see, there were no begginers windows guide. I find that new programmers that post sites explain stuff much better then those that have been @ it for 15 years! they are to advanced to teach you small stuff. THAT is why i like other sites rather then microsoft. I am sorry if i have offended you Bill Gates, and im not lazy, its just if i have to search for it, i will, but i choose to see if anybody knows where it is first. I dont want to spend 2 hours looking for the info when sombody knows a good site already. CAll it whateveryou want, its just saving time. Im sry if you think im just lazy, but its not the case.
