[java] Visual J#
Advertisement
Applications and services built with Visual J# .NET will run only on the .NET Framework, and will not run on any Java virtual machine (http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualj/jsharp/beta.asp
I can''t find anything about J#''s new features, except that, naturally, it''s part of the .NET system. MSDN, it appears, only wants to tell me about J++.
Just Plain Wrong

Since VJ# compiles directly to CLR .exe''s and dll''s, no class files can be generated with it. Applets are also a no-go.
As for Java support, it only supports up to JDK 1.1.4(which is all MS has a license for). It does however support the entire .NET framework, and the VJ++ extensions to Java.
As a serious Java tool it has no place, and my impression is that its mainly intended as a migration path for Java developers(primarily VJ++ people - using C# would make more sense in most cases).
However the IDE itself is so great I have found myself using VJ# quite a bit, primarily in my Alg&Ds class, where you dont really need the Java 2 features anyway.
Psalm 137:9: "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones."
