Anyone else read the latest issue of Computer Games Magazine? The Ed Note for that issue was a sort of follow-up to the last issue, where he whined about online complaining about bandwidth issues due to many demo and preview downloads and such. In this issue he propsed Gamester, a Napster-like file sharer that let''s people log on and search for game files like movie previews, demos, patches, etc. The app would be monitored in some way to prevent illegal content (hey they can try can''t they?
) and thus websites (like GameSpot) would be releived of all their bandwidth issues (well, some at least). Check out the Ed Note at a local mag stand if you don''t get CGM, anyone think this is a viable solution? Certainly there are general-purpose file sharers out there now (like Direct Connect and Morpheus) that could share game files but an app that does only game files could make it a lot easier to find what you want.
