Missile Command Challenge To celebrate the end of 2017 and beginning of 2018 we are making this a 2-month challenge. We also hope this gives late entrants enough time to submit entries. Your challenge is to create a single player Missile Command clone. Create an exact replica or add your own modifications and improvements! From Wikipedia: Quote Missile Command is a 1980 arcade game developed and published by Atari, Inc. and licensed to Sega for European release. It was designed by Dave Theurer, who also designed Atari's vector graphics game Tempest from the same year. The 1981 Atari 2600 port of Missile Command by Rob Fulop sold over 2.5 million copies and became the third most popular cartridge for the system. Play the original Missile Command on IGN at http://my.ign.com/atari/missile-command. Game Requirements The game must have: Start screen Key to return to the start screen Score system Graphics representative and capturing the spirit of a Missile Command clone Sound effects While single player is the goal, a multiplayer mode is also acceptable Gameplay mechanics in the spirit of Missile Command - the game does not need to be an exact clone, but it does need to have Missile Command gameplay Art Requirements The game may be in 2D or 3D Duration December 1, 2017 to January 31, 2018 Submission Post your entries on this thread: Link to the executable (specify the platform) Screenshots: Create a GameDev.net Gallery Album for your Project and upload your screenshots there! Post the link in the thread and your screenshots will be automatically linked and embedded into the post. Same with YouTube or Vimeo trailers. I think I found the cause. The crap laptop I have here has a problem getting a proper IDX11Device2. Since I didn't even require it to be 2 I replaced that with a plain IDX11Device and it works.

yep, that's pro. The only thing I noticed is when switching fullscreen. I couldn't get it back to windowed.

I've colored the text and numbers as you can see in the photo. I forgot to do that before making the video.

Download video game to play.

If you are on something older than Windows 10 you may need to download the runtime for .NET here. Visual Studio 4.5.2 runtime.

Use Keyboard ZXC to fire missiles, arrow or mouse to move the cursor. P pauses, and Esc to quit. (Or you can click the X on the window when the game is over. The mouse will reactivate.) Can you beat my high score? Enjoy!

On a side note, this game runs at 2500FPS average.

Had a chance to make a start today. Got some basic assets happening in game. Still haven't touched gameplay at this stage. Entire application currently weighs in at 344 Kilobytes (no audio yet).

What library are you using with C++ for DirectX 11? I've only used SDL2 and SFML2. (You don't have any blog entries entered yet either.)

Hi dude

As mentioned in my initial blog entry, I'm not using any third party libraries. This is pure DX 11 and C++.

And yep, being the busy time of year, I haven't added any additional blog posts yet. Hoping to get back on to this game tomorrow.

I wrote a pretty simple Missile Command clone in Unity and C#.

Gameplay Instructions:

Use the button menu to navigate.
Left-click to launch missiles
- You can't launch through explosions.
- You CAN blow up your own silos and cities, so don't launch missiles at them.
Escape pauses the game and brings up a menu to go back to the main screen (or exit, or restart).

And here's a link to a video of a funny bug that happened during development. I was trying to limit the number of missiles on the screen but I forgot one key detail:
