Does anyone know how to access video memory in C++ without the use of DirectDraw or anything like that? I would like to mess around and create my own functions and such before I work with DirectDraw. Any help would be great. Thanks ...go on and live with no regrets, you only have one life...

Oh I forgot. If I want to access video memory, I suppose I would
have to change to some sort of video mode wouldn''t I? And would
I have to make this a windows app, or a console app? Thanks again
for any help you want to give me.

As far as I know this is the best pure C++ graphics programming set of tutorials out there...

http://www.cprogramming.com/tutorial.html

(Download the zip file at the bottom of the page)

It''s plain dos graphics, but for those who want to start learning graphics programming from scratch before moving to APIs this set of tutorials is the way to go.
