MS3D Texture problems

Ok, I''ve got some major problems. I was fooling around with some stuff, and eventually I combined the milkshape model tut with the hieght map tut, and all is well, except one thing. When I try to make the textures work, the model just stays white, no textures. Now then, I decided to place the pModel->ReloadTextures(); call just above pModel->Draw();. It will display the textures then, but the whole durn thing is slower than a snail! The heightmap, which is supposed to be bright blue, is now dark, and like I said, SLOOOOOOW! Now, I accidentally set my monitor to 16 - bit once while the program was set to run at 24 - bit, a very similar thing happened. What is wrong with my little program? Is it because I told it to reload the texs in DrawGLScene? I have a 700 Mhz, 128 MB system, so whatever is making slow is very draining on my sytem, and I would like to fix this ASAP. En taro Adun! I got another question, is there anyway to change the texture, such as; have a normal texture, then a blinking texture, a bloody one, etc.? I certainly can''t figure it out.

Hey, you said your heightmap is now dark. That is because it is using colors from the texture. Try this. Instead of reloading the textures each time, call glEnable(GL_TEXTURE_2D) before drawing the model and glDisable(GL_TEXTURE_2D) before drawing the heightmap. Let me know if it works.
