Try searching for "Merchant Gateway" or something? I seem to remember the DX7.0a and DX8.0 SDK''s were really hard to find... and it was just luck I managed to get it
180mb is a little steep for my 56k connection as well...

I''m lucky to have a MSDN subscription with work so we get Direct X regular updates among with all the other Microsoft products. You could try buying a Direct3D book, these come with d3d8 sdk - I know there are not that many of d3d8 books but I''ve bought two in the past and got the sdk with them - just a suggestion!
I could send you one of the directx8 sdk''s I have but I don''t know if that would be breaking any copyright laws etc? Comments please ?

If it is just the time necessary to do the download (and not money if your ISP charges you by the hour/megabyte) then get a download manager so you can break up the download and continue later. The problem with this is that many of those managers are spyware. But what you can do is open up your internet options and bump up the size of your disk cache to something huge and start downloading. IE will then be able to resume it just fine.
I downloaded it on a 56k modem, and I downloaded a 500+mb file before this way
Also, if you are in Sydney and have a CD burner, then I could download it for you and you come around and burn it for yourself
Trying is the first step towards failure.
