I''m reading up data structures & algorithms right now and most of the theory books I''ve seen use a lot funky math notations and symbols when describing timing execution and such. I would like to know which areas of math should I look into to familiarize myself with these notations. Thanks.

It would help if you could describe the symbols. With that info it would be really easy to help you.

If you have a look in an "abstract algebra" book you will likely find definitions of a lot of those "strange" math symbols.

You can find math notation at mathworld too: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/topics/Notation.html
