Haha, okay. Seriously though. I have RedHat Linux 7.2 and Windows 2000 Pro, so I do have "real" operating systems, just so you know. I was thinking of installing Windows 3.1 on an old computer of mine. I have the floppies somewhere around here, might as well use them. Firstly, there were 6 disks, correct? 3 to install DOS and 3 to install Windows, right, or no? Anyways, I was curious. What is development on Windows 3.1 like? What free development tools are out there? Doesn''t matter for what, C or assembly would be what I would want the most. I think there is GWBasic or BasicA that come with DOS, besides. I would only want free tools, I don''t feel like spending money developing for a seldom used OS. I was only doing this because I am in between projects (okay, fine... I am insane). So can anyone help me out? Much appreciated. Thanks all. Regards. ===== Khaos =====

Heh... I wouldn''t call win2k a "real" operating system What can I say, 4 years of stupidity on my high school network and WinNT 4 has me biased against the product line. That said... I''d guess you''ll be using C or C++ and a command line compiler, unless you can find a copy of Borland C++... I think I have the install CD for 4.5 at home, and it was geared toward 16-bit Windows programming with extensions to 32 bit available for future development. I think some of the stuff is different... for instance, you actually have to worry about HINSTANCE hPrevInstance, instead of just giving it a NULL or whatever...

Besides that, I dunno.
