So you know how you see at the bottom of websites" copyright date to date "

And also, The name an logo are trade marked…

Who and where do we go to get that?

And what exact protections do we get?

It depends on what country you live in. For the USA go to copyright.gov to register a copyright. Also you can google your question, you'll get the straight info immediately. On your website just claim your copyright, Copyright Year Your Name. It's yours, just claim it.

Nolo Press has good books on this.

Costs about US$400 in the US. I've registered ANIMATS, DOWNSIDE, and SITETRUTH. It's not hard if you can follow directions.

Also, needs to be said: you don't necessarily have to register your website's copyright. You can simply state the copyright notice on the site now because your site is already your copyright. Registration is not required. I second the recommendation of Nolo Press books for IP information, where this is all spelled out very clearly.

Yes. Good point. If you're not clear on the difference between trademark and copyright, and what they do, you need a something like the Nolo Press “Patent, Copyright & Trademark”, which is a good starter book. I was getting into the mechanics of doing it too soon.

hmm,

I'll do some more research.

Is it worth it to get name and logo trademarked?

I found this:

https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/trademark-fee-information

It's only done by country right?

So if I in the US trademark something, it is only valid in my region, and anyone outside the region can do something?

Good! I recommend:

Patent, Copyright & Trademark; An Intellectual Property Desk Reference
by Stephen Elias & Richard Stim. Nolo.com (Nolo Press), ISBN 0-87337-601-3
More extremely important stuff. If you are making a game, as either a designer, programmer, or producer, you need to be knowledgeable on law as regards to intellectual property. I can't recommend this book highly enough!

The Copyright HandBook: How to Protect & Use Written Works
by Stephen Fishman. Nolo.com (Nolo Press), ISBN 0-87337-548-3
Extremely important stuff for writers, designers, producers, and webmasters. Another must-have.

I just got an email from an accounting service I used to use, and they broke down trade marks very well.

Thought I'd share:
