Hi there, I wrote some simple tools for our team and one for my girlfriend(Yeah, I actually have a girl and program(pretty hardcore, even my dreams are code!). I''m kinda beginning but code/learn alot. Back to the question: I wrote a program for my girl, a reminder with a simple database behind it. It''s written in VB because it''s way to much work for me to write it in C++(lots of GUI, few lines of code). The problem is that I need to get it installed at my girlfriend. The EXE alone isn''t enough, I need shit for the database, shit for the controls, blablabla etc. VS comes with an installer but it sucks because it created several files wich are enormous. I need an installation program wich finds all needed files itself and creates and executable and all files as ONE setup.exe. I know Wise installer is a good one, but a bit expensive. Anyone has an idea??? TIA Sand Hawk Member of the Stupid Coders. http://www.stupidcoders.cjb.net -Earth is 98% full. Please delete anybody you can.

I think you should stick with the vb installer, but compress all of the setup files into one self-extracting archive. That would be my advice. I believe trial winzip can do that if you don''t have a sfx archiver.

Don''t confuse Sand_Hawk with an unrelated subject. And once again, I know I can''t spell.

Yeah, don''t confuse me!!! Nobody knows a good free setup program wich can be used with VB? I know I can download Wise Installer and all those other installer programs but I just want it to get legal because I want to distribute my software(for free) over the internet. I hate it when the Police is knocking on my door to see if I bought my software(They''re doing quite some raids on the moments here, lots of people get caught using illegal software)

believe it or not the vb install system picks all the required files. now you see the problem working with vb and using all its stuff to do the work for you. unfortunatly few installers if any besides vbs will find the files you are required to have installed. most installers expect YOU to know exactly what files you need to have installed. stick with the vb installer.
