I am looking for 1-2 java programmers who would like to join me on a team that will be creating a Fantasy-RPG-Sports variant. I will be leading the programming team, and would like to have a few team members to help with the project. My game concept is original and I think a fun game to design. I created a working demo of the game last year, and would like to redo it now that I have learned from my mistakes.
Brief game summary:
The game, tentatively title, "Fantasy Battle Association", will mirror a rotisierre baseball league, ala Baseball Mogul and Diamond Mind baseball, but will exist in the fantasy world. Leagues will consists of teams of warriors, mages, thiefs. General managers will have to manage salaries, conduct trades with other teams, equip their teams, set lineups, handle injuries, spells, etc... before combat, and make combat decisions before the next weekend''s matches. My goal is to create an extremely involved management simulation that will require the player to decide whether to re-sign the 35-year old Fighter with an Expert skill level in Swordsmanship and an enchanted broadsword with a +5 against undead opponents, or to trade him for a rookie Cleric, a minor league Thief, and a magical axe that would go perfect with the 13th level Paladin sitting on the bench with a high skill level in Axes. If you are a fan of roto baseball, then you can see the potential for excitement when you team of misfits eventually wins the title. The game will be heavily stat oriented. The game will be deep enough that players can spend hours preparing for the next draft and negotiating trades.
The project will consist of solid object oriented programming, will require all sorts of AI, and even some multiplayer functionality so that players can host leagues of other players from around the world (no real-time multiplayer - it would all be done via e-mail uploads). The game will conist of limited graphics (player portraits, nice looking game screens), but will mostly be a text-dialog based program. My current plan is to use Microsoft Visual J++ to create a nice Windows app. I am NOT concerned with cross platform compatibility at this time. We might use some C++ native code sections of there are parts of the game we need to speed up.
The game will be 100% freeware. If, by chance, the game is successful, we would move to a shareware model.
Please let me know if you are interested. I prefer college graduates to work with.
