Hello #gamedev!

Although Steam recommends using a certain “standard” for regional pricing that is verified and adjusted across 35 currencies, the final decision always rests with the developer or publisher.

Something happened recently that I’d like to share with you today, as a tip or reminder:
So, here’s the context:

  • 3–4 years of development by a single developer,

  • An early access release planned,

  • 10+ hours of gameplay (even though it’s an EA title).

  • A small pre-release promo was held.
The most critical moment was approaching (the next chance wouldn’t come until the official release); we were ready to move on to the next phase of our work as discussed with the developer, and the “Buy” button appeared....
In Vietnam (for example), the price of a copy of the game is higher than in USD or EUR.

    haha

The game generated traffic, but some time was still lost.
Conclusion: Of course, most of those present are well aware of regional pricing. But this is an additional reason to check and double-check even the most trivial-seeming details—especially when it comes to the release of your brainchild.

To those of you getting ready for the upcoming release of your project (especially your debut one)—I hope everything goes smoothly! To those of you who’ve already launched—congratulations, you’ve done a great job—please show your support for your colleagues!
