What do you consider Zelda (Any of them), I dont think there RPG''s because there missing some key elements, like exp points and such. "A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in human history - with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila." -Mitch Ratliffe

RPG''s do not REQUIRE experiance points, they are just very common

am i missing something or why you try to point that an RPG has to have experience points? RPG is role playing game and doesn''t require experience points in my view. Experience points are just a way to let you better play your role in an obviously limited enviroment. You aren''t able to build up your muscles when playing diablo(it wouldn''t have any effect either), but your character which you roleplay can do it.

Mind if I put in my two cents?

Lets think about the word RPG for a moment. ROLE PLAYING GAME... I assume this means a game in which you take on the role of another charecter. If that''s the case, well then even Mario could be considered a RPG, you take on the role of a fat, mushroom eating plumber. RPG is a very loose term, and about the only games it would NOT describe are things like Tetris (unless you consider that to be taking on the role of a block...

True I have the same problem with it when someone tries to describe an RPG to me.It really should be anything where you play a role.
I usually see it as the EXP genre, zelda but mostly stuff like breath of fire,FF,diablo e.t.c.
"There's so much to do, and a lot of you are wasting time. This is ART dagnammit! get creative or get buried."
OK well lets think of some things which are the norm on most RPG''s, some sort of journal, EXP points, interaction with the NPC''s. Zelda ha none of these, interaction with NPCS is the worst, they talk you listien, even when you do get choices its yes or no. And if you pick the one they dont want to hear they just ask again, until you give in. When I think of RPG''s I think of Baluders Gate, FF series. Even Diablo is closer to a RPG then Zelda is.

Just a note, I"m not bashing Zelda, I love it. I just dont think its a RPG

A roleplaying game is a game in which you develop a character through the use of various skills and levels. You have classes and skills that let you choose a character from a class and create that character in your own image by choosing to better it in certain areas.

Zelda is not an RPG because the character Link does not evolve in this way. He obtains better weaponry and items, but there is nothing the player can do to change or prevent this from happening, the character Link is crafted the way the game is played, not the way the player controls the character.

One thing I''ve associated with adventure games is item trading. Zelda games make extensive use of that.

The zelda series is becoming more rpg like the original one in 8bit is all action but if you played majoras mask you interact with all the towns people and collect masks and items but only about half of them are required the rest you only get if you like. Who knows what to expect from the gamecube one it looks disipointing.
