I'm lead programmer with Dark Squid Studios, and we are in need of a graphics programmer who is familiar with Directx. The current game is in the style of Black&White (loosely though). And at the moment we already have an up and running engine that's made to be able to stick in objects and game related info relatively easy. Basicly we need to have about 2 more coders to fill in and help out with adding functionality to the graphics part and some to the engine. Depending on your level of commitment and skill, you will be given a contract based on that. This post is for the people who are interested in possibly joining our team, and not for lamers who aren't good enough to do anything... Aka, serious replies only to this post. what clinches your click on the email button on my profile?
The game we are working on, Cutaro: not quite immortal, is truly something worth working on. rather than reinvent a better wheel, we are looking at what worked , and didnt work in past rts/god games and have created a hybrid design of something that as well as being "make-able" (atleast for our development team)adds many new concepts and ideas to the real time strategy genre. The game itself is only similar to black and white , in that the player is a quasi-god like being. The actual gameplay is far more reminecient of large scale detailed warfare with ever changing (yes , each time you play the game) units and a strong focus on enemy AI, thats about as much as any outsider has heard so far.
concept artwork and screenies availible on request.

I repeat, this is not one of those games you pick up and discover can be "beaten" through chucking a mass of units at some "key" building. My ai is honed through chess coding, and chess like cunning is what you can expect from your opponents here. combat on many levels from all out war to complex , yet easy to control diplomacy this isnt one of those rts games where you "build" people..oh no On top of this, we love having our own personal traits in a game, the players character is customisable far beyond a few basic colors and sound sets.

sorry folks, but thats all I can say

real registered company, proper legal and financial staff. This is the first large project we have worked on, and stuck by. we have all finished things before, and we believe this is the closest you can get to an online development house.

one or two other positions are also availible (before we reach our max quota).
....my kingdom for a passionate engine programmer (all im getting are these skill-less drones)

BUMP.

Hello...

I have some interest but I think I''ll be too rusty for you. I''m in the process of getting back to my c/c++ and graphics roots after 5 years of pure Java development. What level of direct x are you using? I am toying around with 7 and 8 right now to see how much things have really changed. Got an example of a specific tasks that need to be done?

I think rust wears off pretty quick....

Basically like develop said we are using directx 8.1
Most of the stuff at our level of delevopment involves basic handling of vertex buffers and index buffers...We plan to get into the sound, music, and network also (which we already got up and running).

At the immediate moment, concerning directx we need a good texture loading and saving system.

Most of the work being developed now is c++ framework to control the flow of the game and making all the objects very compatiable with each other.
